Corrosion Inhibition, Adsorption and Thermodynamic Properties of Poly (Sodium 4-Styrenesulfonate) on Carbon Steel in Phosphoric Acid Medium

The use of polymers as corrosion inhibitors has attracted much attention due to their low prices, inherent stability, availability and cost-effectiveness. inhibiting effect poly(sodium-4-styrenesulfonate) on carbon steel in phosphoric acid solution been investigated using weight loss scanning electron microscopy techniques (SEM) theoretical calculations based density functional theory (DFT). In the presence 1.0×10-3 mol/L inhibitor, a maximum inhibition 98.06 % was observed. influence concentration temperature immersion time investigated. Activation parameters such activation energy (Eact), enthalpy (ΔHact), entropy (ΔSact), heat adsorption (Qads) free (ΔGads) were evaluated processes. It found that behaviour (PSS) follows Langmuir isotherm change values indicate mixed chemical physical surface. results obtained with different methods agree well.
